  • West Bengal has created 7 new districts, so the number of districts has increased from 23 to 30. The 7 new districts are: Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and Basirhat.
  • The Minjar Mela was celebrated in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Kerala legislative assembly had conducted 61vidhan sabha seating in 2021, this is the highest by any state assembly in the year.

  • Bangladesh born journalist Fahmida Azim won the Pulitzer Award 2022 under the commentary category. For reporting the violence faced by the Uygher muselim in Xinjiang region of China.
  • Angela Merkel won the UNESCO Peace Prize 2022 for “efforts to welcome refugees”.
  • President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was awarded with the Liberty Medal 2022 by the USA.

  • The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games slogan will be “Games wide Open”.

Commonwealth Games:

Commonwealth games 2022 at Birmingham, Indian won a total of 61 medals with 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze and finished overall 4th position, India could have won more medals.

  • India’s first medal of the Games was won by Sanket Sargar with a silver in men’s 55kg weightlifting event.
  • Sudhir won the first medal for India, a gold, in para sports at the CWG 2022. He became the champion in the para powerlifting men’s heavyweight category.
  • Mirabai Chanu was the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth games 2022, while in men’s category Jeremy Lalrinnunga from Mizoram was first to win a gold medal.

  • India won the South Asia Football Federation Under 20 (SAFF-U20) Cup by defeating Bangladesh by 5-2.
  • Viswananthan Anand became the deputy Prez of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
  • V Pranav became India’s 75th Grand Master. He is from Tamil Nadu.
  • The 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 is held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
