  • AL NAJAH-IV military exercise was conducted between India and Oman, at the Mahajan Field Firing Range, Rajasthan.
  • VINBAX exercise 3rd edition was conducted between the Army of India and Vietnam at the Chandimandir Haryana.
  • West Bengal has created 7 new districts, so the number of districts has increased from 23 to 30. The 7 new districts are: Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and Basirhat.
  • The Minjar Mela was celebrated in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Kerala legislative assembly had conducted 61vidhan sabha seating in 2021, this is the highest by any state assembly in the year.
  • Postal Stamp on Pingali Venkayya to was released on 2nd August to celebrate his 146th Birth anniversary. Pingali Venkaiah was the freedom fighter who designed the India Flag.
  • Zimbabwe launched the Gold coin named “Musi-o-Tunya”, as the legal tender to tickle inflation.
  • ISRO launched the Small Satellite launch Vehicle (SSLV) on August 7 from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This was developed along with the New space India pvt limited. It was carrying the two satellites EOS-02 and Azadiset, but it was not successful as it lost its path.
  • Total 21 new Ramsar sites were added to the list of Indian Ramsar sites. Now the total number of Ramsar sites has increased to 75. Know all the 75 Ramsar sites.
  • World Largest floating Solar Power Plant to be built on Narmada River, Madhya Pradesh.
  • ASEAN-India ministerial Meeting took place in Cambodia’s Capital Phnom Penh. Motto of the meeting was “Addressing problems together”.
  • PM Narendra Modi has inaugurated  Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital in Mohali, Punjab. It also inaugurated Asia’s largest  multi-speciality hospital in Faridabad, Haryana developed by Amrita Hospital group.
  • The All Women Navy Crew led by Aanchal Sharma completed a surveillance mission, crossed the Arabian Sea with Dornier aircraft from Gujarat.
  • Sanskrit speaking villages will be developed in each district of Uttarakhand. Karnataka was the first to implement this program.
  • Panchamrut Yojana launched by Uttar Pradesh government to double the farmer income.

  • Jagdeep Dhanker was elected as the 14th Vice President of India, he was the governor of West Bengal.
  • Nallathamby Kalaiselvi has become the first woman director of CSIR.
  • Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the brand Ambassador of Uttarakhand.
  • William Ruto has been elected as the President of Kenya. He was a deputy President before this.
  • Rajesh Verma appointed as the secretary to the President Droupadi Murmu.

  • Tamil Nadu Police got the President Collar award, this award was presented by the Vice President of India.
  • Shashi Tharoor was honored with the highest French Civilian Honour-“Chevalier de la Légion d’-Honneur”.
  • Marina Tabassum, an architect from Bangladesh, won the Lisbon Triennale Lifetime Achievement Award. She has become the first South Asian Person to win this award.

Lifetime achievement award to Kapil Dev

  • Bangladesh born journalist Fahmida Azim won the Pulitzer Award 2022 under the commentary category. For reporting the violence faced by the Uygher muselim in Xinjiang region of China.
  • Angela Merkel won the UNESCO Peace Prize 2022 for “efforts to welcome refugees”.
  • President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was awarded with the Liberty Medal 2022 by the USA.
  • Divita Rai won the title of Miss Diva Universe 2022, held in Mumbai. She is from Karnataka.

Sports Current affairs of August 2022

  • The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games slogan will be “Games wide Open”.
  • Max Verstappen won the Hungarian Grand Prix.
  • The Sports Department of Punjab is going to organize the “Punjabi Khed Mela”. A total of 30 sport game will be conducted.
  • Rupal Chaudhary became the first Indian to win two medals in U-20 world Athletics Championship. She won a bronze medal in the 400m race and a silver medal in the 400m relay race.

Commonwealth Games:

Commonwealth games 2022 at Birmingham, Indian won a total of 61 medals with 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze and finished overall 4th position, India could have won more medals.

  • India’s first medal of the Games was won by Sanket Sargar with a silver in men’s 55kg weightlifting event.
  • Sudhir won the first medal for India, a gold, in para sports at the CWG 2022. He became the champion in the para powerlifting men’s heavyweight category.
  • Mirabai Chanu was the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Commonwealth games 2022, while in men’s category Jeremy Lalrinnunga from Mizoram was first to win a gold medal.

  • India won the South Asia Football Federation Under 20 (SAFF-U20) Cup by defeating Bangladesh by 5-2.
  • Viswananthan Anand became the deputy Prez of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
  • V Pranav became India’s 75th Grand Master. He is from Tamil Nadu.
  • The 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 is held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
  • Sunil Chettry and Manisha Kalyan were awarded the player of the year 2022  by All India football Federation.
  • Antim Panghal has become the first women wrestler to win the gold medal for India in Under 20 World wrestling championship in 53 Category.
  • Linthoi Chanamban wins India’s first ever Gold Medal in the Under 18 Judo World Championship. She belongs to Manipur.
  • Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Cherag Shetty won the Bronze medal in badminton doubles in the World Badminton championship in Tokyo.
  • Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win Lausanne Diamond League meeting title in Javelin throw, held in Switzerland. He won Gold Medal with 89.08 m throw.
  • Virat Kohli became the first Indian player to complete 100 matches in all formats.
  • Max Verstappen won the Belgium Grand Prix 2022.
  • Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was named UEFA player of the year and while Barcelone Alexia Putellas won the women’s player of the year award.
  • Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen won the world Badminton championship 2022. This is his second title.
